Dear Friends,

Here we are with the spring season along with an intermittent weather, with the sky still changing the different blue tonalities.

We have received a few visits here on the farm.

The Belgian draw artist Thierry Van Hasselt was here. One of the persons in charge of the drawings and set installations of “THE ATTENDANTS GALLERY” that accompanied during a week, the actress Paula Só in order to know her better as her life story that will be part of the show (a co. production with the Het Musiek Lod and several European theatre companies.

By the of April, Jean François, from La Maison des Enfants (France) will reside here in the farm, to take part in the pre-production of the activity called “EARTH”.

Many schools have visited us as well to watch performances and the activity “inside o bando”. They still had time to go to the kitchen-garden to pay a visit to Isaac, to see the plantation and assist to an agriculture short lesson.

Still this month we’ll have the usual lunch and social contact conversation of the first April’s Saturday in the farm.

This April’s after lunch meeting about land/earth will have the presence of Raul Atalaia and Isaac Reis, once the happening theme that will take place after the talk is “EARTH”. We can say that after the theory comes the practice.

This happening, co. produced by o bando and La Maison des Enfants will take place on the slope of Vale dos Barris ready to receive the earth consecration ceremony. Young and grown will be drove on a descendent path with a few stops where it will be re-created rituals where the contact with the land, the chants and the movement has a primordial part.

Saturday, beyond all this energy in the farm, Bando will be at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to perform “CLASSICS IN GULBENKIAN: TALES THE VOICE HAS TOLD”. In this activity organized by the Foundation with the participation of Teatro O Bando, the oral traditional tales are celebrated.

On the 20th May, the “GRÃO DE BICO” premiere will take place. The first performance of a theatrical trilogy for all ages is based in a text on oral tradition and focused in the gesture and voice.

This will be the breaking point (the voice and the gesture), in 2007 we’ll work the line of journey (dance and draw) and in 2008 the station plans (photography and cinema).

And that’s it, the kitchen-garden already gave birth to broad beans and Isaac is planting tomatoes.

Theatre regards from the rural world!
