VI. Annual Meeting of Magic Net
In June 2007 the VI. Annual Meeting of Magic Net took place in Schwerin / Germany.
The host of that meeting was Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin, the leading organisation of Magic Net.
Approx. 100 artists met for workshops, discussion and exchange. Within a week the companies presented their co-productions at the small festival “At the doors of Europe”.
The motto of the festival describes one of Europe’s central challenges: Human beings on the move. The Magic-Net-co-productions have taken up this theme, using very divers artistic concepts.

• Guest performances of Magic-Net-Co-Productions
Four of the co-productions (Head of nails, Adopt a soldier, At the doors of Europe, America – Ship of hope) were invited to Frankfurt/Oder / Germany and were performed at Kleist Forum in June 2007.
America – Ship of Hope also travelled to their partner-theatres in Jelenia Góra and in Bratislava.
At the doors of Europe was successful presented on several summer festivals in Spain and Portugal. It will be performed in Istanbul in September 2007.

• MC-Meeting June 2007
A meeting of the Management Committee of Magic Net took place during the Annual Meeting in Schwerin. The main issue was the planning of the common final co-production. The basic idea of the English playwright Richard Hurford (every company develops one certain character for this production) was accepted, a rehearsal-schedule was decided. The opening of the production is previewed for the VII. Annual Meeting of Magic Net, June 2008 in Bratislava / Slovakia.
The next MC-meeting will take place in York at Pilot theatre, October 2007. The development of the final co-production will go on there.

• Youth encounter 2007
Young people and their theatre educators form the so-called “Youth Net”, the theatre education department of Magic Net, met in Schwerin. In June 2007 the Annual Meeting of “Youth Net” was connected to the Annual Meeting of Magic Net. 50 young people and their educators from 6 different countries came to Schwerin to meet in workshops and to produce an open-air-performance.

• Youth encounter 2008
The Youth encounter 2008 will take place in Jelenia Góra / Poland in March. The host, Teatr Jeleniogórski, is expecting around 60 young people from all participating countries of Magic Net.
The young people will exchange stories from the various lives of their grandparents. During workshops directed by professional theatre educators they will look for theatrical possibilities to tell these stories to an audience.
