The Experimental Stage - The Baltic House

The Experimental stage is rather young but quite respectable repertory Russian Company who works both for the young and adults audience. The small city-financed theatre with 10 actors and one director working under the roof of the State Baltic House Theatre-Festival in St.-Petersburg was founded in 1999 with Anatoly Praudin as a leader. The name of the Company «the Experimental Stage» reflects the Praudin’s ideas of about the theatre for the young audience: it’s methods, dialogues with a public, repertory policy, adaptation of classics. It also deals with the idea of the theatre-studio, which means that the Company strong believes in the artistic model of non-commercial theatre. The resent years Anatoly and his actors are really involved in the Stanislavski system and much developing Stanislavski’s ideas concerning the actor skill. At the other hand the productions of the Company always has a very bright plastic and visual features. For years of their existence the productions of the Company was awarded by “Zolotoi Sofit” , “Arlekin” Theatre Prices, “Prize of the Audience” and “Press-Price”, took part in the several international projects and festivals in Russia, Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Ireland, Estonia, and in Israel as well. Now the repertory is Bespridannitsa on A. Ostrovsky, Cinderella based on adaptation E. Shcwarts, Dutch-Russian co-production Pjotr based on Dutch play by E.K. Mathejssen and Singing Shadows, opera based on the poetry by A.Akhmatova. Works in progress: Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A.Milne, The lesson of Stanislavski.
