VAT Theatre

VAT Theatre is the oldest Estonian free theatre group formed in 1987 in Tallinn. The theatre is playing both for adults and children. The repertoire is various: new drama, old stories, documentary performances and the Forum proceeding from the principles of theatre by Augusto Boal. VAT produces classics in its own way and makes co-work with young Estonian playwrights.
VAT Teater has an own small hall in the rooms of the Estonian National Library.
The group gives more than 200 performances per year all over Estonia. The group has taken part of festivals in several states, has performed behind the polar line and on the other side of the equatorial line. VAT Theatre has participated in festivals in Germany, France, Poland, Russia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraina, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Turkey, Zimbabwe, Japan.
VAT Theatre is the member of the Estonian Theatre Association, the Estonian Centre of ASSITEJ, the Estonian Union of Non-profit Associations and Foundations, Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of Free Education.
